|Today we will discuss times when you have felt miserable and lost|
Are you someone who is ambitious, driven and hardworking?
But sometimes find that things don’t go the way you’ve planned and you find yourself feeling miserable and lost?
The next thing you know, you start comparing yourself with the rest of the world, so you label yourself as an “Useless Loser “
We are all guilty of comparing ourselves to others at some point in our lives. You are not alone even I’ve found myself doing it and I have to say it usually resulted in me feeling like crap about myself .
Question is are you ready to STOP comparing yourself so that you can start achieving your Career dreams?
If you took the achievement of others, and compared them to yours, how do you think you’d size up? Do you think this would make you feel good? Most likely not! I bet you said that in your head, didn’t you? Then why do it?
Why do we compare ourselves with others?
We tend to do soout of jealousy, insecurity or feeling less than. It’s not wrong to feel such emotions however It can become toxic when you let these emotions take you down the road of discontent.
For some, it might be a friend from school, who is getting better grades than you. For others, it might be someone from work getting a promotion faster than you can.
And as ridiculous as this may sound, it can be someone from social media who is living life in the fab lane, and you wonder to yourself, How & Why them?
Let’s figure it out together, here are a few hacks on how you can change this mindset which isn’t serving you well.
1. Reframe Your Expectation
2 .Re define
If you have made a set of goals, have a look at your current list of goals and begin by reviewing them. It’s ok to change your mind if the goal no longer fits in with your values and lifestyle. Then start to take action towards the new goal or recommit to your existing 1’s.
If you’re reading this and realised you don’t have a list of goals … You just identified where that feeling of *#$% is coming from.
Lack of focus is what’s preventing you from having a fab career and lifestyle . You can start with being practical by listing your goals so you have a clear view of what you want and start work towards achieving them.
When you feel a sense of accomplishments you will feel more empowered to do more on your list and you will be so busy working on your own personal achievements that you won’t have time to compare yourself with others!
2. Look at the bigger picture
|Mostly we determine our success based on one area of our lives, studies or work and when things don’t go to plan it can leave you feeling low. Sometimes you will feel like a loser when your studies or work aren’t going very well but that doesn’t mean the rest of your life is going downhill. Academic or professional achievements are not the only elements in your life.|
A change in perspective, looking at the bigger picture can help deal with the less than feelings.
1. Acknowledge the situation
2. Nothing last forever
3. Change can be a good thingWhen you want to achieve something remind yourself that there will be hurdles along the way but it is not going to be permanent.
With time you will start to see good things come even from the most challenging of life experiences.
3. Be compassionate to yourself- Reward yourself
Be kind and reward yourself even if the achievement might not be the biggest achievement.
It will increase your self-esteem and keep you motivated to work harder. Make it a regular activity to recognise the steps and action you take towards your goals.
Once you stop comparing or labelling yourself and start working on your values, your goals, you will become the successful person you dream about. It will require focus, determination and work.
